Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi: New success in organizing a prestigious world-class sporting and entertaining event

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), said that the outstanding success achieved by Sharjah in organizing the Sharjah Water Festival 2010 and hosting the UIM F1 H2O World Championship 2010, Sharjah Grand Prix, would not have been possible without the noble directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the generous patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

In a speech delivered during a ceremony organized by the SCTDA at the Holiday International Hotel, Sharjah, to honor sponsors of the Sharjah Water Festival, the media, volunteers from various government departments, and members of the organizing committee, Al Qassimi said: “It gives me great pleasure to be here today to express my heartfelt thanks and profound appreciation to all of you for the outstanding efforts made and significant support you have shown to ensure that the Sharjah Water Festival 2010 was a resounding success.

“It is my pleasure, too, to see the smiles of success on the faces of those who went to great lengths, and who worked with dedication and devotion, to achieve excellence in the organization and hosting of the event,” he added.

“I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate this milestone achievement to H.H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in appreciation of the major support he offered to the event. It is to this support that we directly attribute the success of the event, which has not only emphasized Sharjah’s leading position, but has also proven the emirate’s ability to organize global sporting and entertaining events” he stated.

“We are fully aware of the importance - and the unprecedented popularity - of the Sharjah Water Festival. This year’s success will encourage all to exert further efforts with the aim to achieve further triumphs for this prestigious event over the coming years,” he said.

Al Qassimi extended his thanks and appreciation to the sponsors of the Sharjah Water Festival for their unlimited support, as well as for their significant contribution to the organization and success of the prestigious event.

He, also paid tribute to the government departments and agencies in Sharjah for their enormous efforts and great logistical and technical support, as well as to the local and international media for their special coverage of the event – all of which, he said, contributed significantly to the Festival’s success.

In conclusion, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi emphasized that the SCDTA is determined to continue its dedicated efforts to further promote the emirate of Sharjah on all the local, regional and international platforms by hosting sporting and entertaining activities. He thanked the SCTDA’s team, which he said spared no effort to ensure the best possible organization of the event, as well as those who volunteered to work with the SCTDA to achieve this goal.

During the ceremony, the SCTDA honored sponsors of the Sharjah Water Festival, including the main sponsor, Dana Gas, and Co-sponsors Al Qasba, the Department of Seaports and Customs, Sharjah Museums Department, Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah Police, the Department of Public Works, Al Zahra Hospital, Sharjah Theatre Group, Zulal, Mega Mall Sharjah, Sahara Centre, Golden Tulip Hotel and Corniche AL Buhaira Hotel. Media sponsors included Sharjah TV, Al Khaleej, Gulf News and Umm Al Quwain FM.

During the ceremony, trophies and certificates of appreciation were awarded by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi to all parties involved in making the event a success.
