Sharjah Investment And Development Authority Embarks On Promotional Tour To Asia

A delegation from the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) will embark on a promotional tour to Asian countries to promote the existing business and investment opportunities in the emirate, and to encourage and attract all levels of investors to invest in the emirate.

The tour, the first of its kind, will cover two destinations, namely Singapore and Thailand, between 14 and18 February.

The tour is part of the emirate’s vision to attract corporate and individual investors from all over the world and is in line with Shurooq’s approach to place the emirate on the world business map. The tour is also part of Shurooq’s endeavour to open new investment markets, reinforce economic cooperation ties, and promote the emirate of Sharjah as an investment destination of choice.

Shurooq’s delegation will include Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq, Elie Armaly Director of Business Development, and Saud Al Suwaidi, Director of Finance ’&’ Administration.

Al Sarkal stressed the importance of such promotional initiatives in further enhancing the emirate’s leading position on the Asian and international economic map and promoting the emirate’s economic, geographical and investment attractions, with a particular focus on government incentives offered to investors, and the investor friendly infrastructure.

"Shurooq adopts a marketing strategy that aims to attract and encourage local and international investment in the emirate of Sharjah, and to plan and supervise the development of modern economic, trading and tourism infrastructure in the emirate in cooperation with all government departments and agencies", he said.

He added that Shurooq’s journey to East Asia (Singapore and Thailand) is part of its deliberate diversification strategy in attracting elite investment groups, due to the economic buoyancy of the two countries and their status as a hub to world-renowned hotel operators, as Shurooq in particular seeks to develop and encourage investment in the emirate’s hospitality sector.

Shurooq’s CEO added: "We are keen to open up broader vistas of joint cooperation between Sharjah and all international markets, particularity with investment authorities and individual and corporate investors. We are striving to enhance economic relations, exchange expertise, knowledge and information in all fields, and to network with international business communities in order to introduce Sharjah’s investor friendly environment, its existing cultural, economic and geographical attractions, as well as the wealth of untapped investment opportunities which investors can benefit from in light of the facilities and incentives offered by various government departments." Al Sarkal said "the delegation will meet with representatives of authorities, corporations investment companies and elite investors in the two countries to discuss Sharjah’s existing investment environment, and to present the investment infrastructure and the multitude of logistical services that facilitate the trade exchange between Sharjah and the world. The delegation will also meet with a number of international hotel operators in both countries, in line with Shurooq’s efforts to develop Sharjah’s tourism industry".

Shurooq undertook a promotional tour to Parma, Italy, earlier this year, where the authority held a number of fruitful business meetings with senior representatives of business and industrial communities. In addition to its participation in international fairs and conferences, Shurooq will visit a number of other countries in the coming months with the purpose of promoting the emirate.
