Al Qasba Food Festival 2011 Kicks Off On March 24


’Slice and Dice’ features renowned chefs, exciting competitions, entertainment shows, workshops and a variety of activities










Al Qasba Development Authority has announced the program of its signature festival, ‘Al Qasba Food Festival 2011’, kicking off on March 24th at Sharjah’s premiere tourism destination. A host of renowned chefs from various hotels and restaurants in the UAE will be the stars of this year’s festivals as they compete, amuse the audience with their cooking skills and unveil the secrets behind their delicious dishes everyday from 5:30 pm till midnight.

Organized by Smart Solutions, Al Qasba Food Festival 2011 is expected to welcome thousands of visitors during its ten-day run, with an array of activities targeted towards different community segments. From food carving displays, adults and kids workshops, cocktail recipes, canvas painting, sesame street characters all to chef competitions and musical shows, the Al Qasba Food Festival 2011 promises to be an event that appeals to the community at large.

“Following the huge success of last year’s edition, we have been looking forward to organizing a larger edition that will be even more popular”, said Dina Al Nakhi, Events Manager at Al Qasba Development Authority. “We are confident that our new theme ‘Slice and Dice’ will attract a lot of people from around the UAE wanting to see the artistic decoration of dishes. We invite our visitors to enjoy live musical performances and animated stilt performers that will parade through the crowds, and taste some of the world’s most delicious dishes prepared by our honoured guest chefs.”

The many respected chefs featured at this year’s event will include: Chef Uwe Micheel, Chef Antonio De Dominics, Chef Mehdi Katanbaf, Chef Wael El Deeb, Chef Mouin Al Saghbini, Chef Jay Tabuclao, Chef Ricky Tangarorang, Chef Mohamed A. Salam & Chef Rody Buendia, Chef Mohamed A. Salam, Chef DeSilva, Chef John Dipakdeekajon, and Chef Mahmoud Zaree, and Chef Nabil A. Moneam. Each Chef will be showcasing his unique cooking skills by preparing delicious dishes and decorating them. In addition, talented chefs from Al Qasba’s permanent restaurants and cafes will present their signature dishes throughout the festival.

A number of activities are geared specifically to younger audiences, including a “Little Chef Corner” where kids and teens can learn about kitchen basics and the diversity of cultural norms that surround eating etiquette.
