Abu Dhabi University Receives The Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award

Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has won a Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award (SKEA) for pursuing excellence in all of its operations while achieving its primary strategic objectives and goals. The university bested a large number of industrial and developmental institutions in the country in the SKEA competition.

According to Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, the ADU Chairman of the Executive Board, the university’s journey towards excellence has been led by the ADU management and has been supported by the staff and faculty. In its pursuit of excellence the university has obtained licensure from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and has received ISO certification. ADU will soon seek international accreditation.

Receiving the award from SKEA, Al Dhaheri hailed the awards organization for its role in promoting the development of Abu Dhabi and the UAE by facilitating the implementation of the highest international standards of performance. He pointed out that SKEA has succeeded in boosting performance and productivity rates in a great number of well-known national institutions.

Al Dhaheri also praised H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, and his brother, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, and member of the Supreme Council of the Union, and H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for their patronage of SKEA.

Furthermore, he has commended H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and President of Abu Dhabi University’s Board of Trustees, for his determination in bringing ADU to the forefront of UAE institutions through outstanding performance in teaching, research and community service.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, ADU’s Chancellor, stressed that the university has a comprehensive strategy for academic and functional performance as well as establishing a relationship with the local community and prestigious universities and research centers around the world. He said that the ADU is carrying out strategies to achieve its vision of building a specialized national human capital.

Dr. Ibrahim went on to say that ADU’s mission is to facilitate the economic development of Abu Dhabi in particular and the UAE in general. The university includes over 4000 students in 31 programs at the bachelor, master and doctoral level. He said that every great city must have a great university and ADU is the great university of Abu Dhabi.

He also pointed out that the university has made great efforts to improve and enhance performance within the university in various academic, financial, and administrative aspects. Toward this end, the university is committed to recruiting distinguished faculty members who belong to renowned international universities, and developing an infrastructure of laboratories, classrooms, libraries, and facilities in general.

ADU also developed a plan to engage in scientific research aimed at contributing positively to national development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the UAE. The latest statistics show that the percentage of ADU’s graduates who become employed within one year of graduation has reached 94%. This indicates that ADU has designed its programs to meet labor market needs.

Ibrahim concluded by hailing the efforts of all ADU’s employees and thanked everyone directly and indirectly involved in this national achievement. The achievement was made possible through teamwork and an awareness of the importance of such an award. ADU is very proud of being a SKEA recipient.
