Amity University Promotes Unique Educational Initiative At Green Middle East - 125 Free Scholarships On Offer For Deserving Talent

With campuses around the world from India and Mauritius to Singapore, the UK and US, as well as Dubai, Amity plans to expand its network to 25 countries in the next few years.

To support Amity’s recruitment drive, the university is exhibiting at the inaugural Green Middle East exhibition and conference in Sharjah, which is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and in association with waste management experts, Bee’ah.

“We are focusing on education because if we are going to work towards a sustainable future we must educate and engage with tomorrow’s consumers,” commented Saif Al Midfa, Director General, Expo Centre Sharjah.
Located within Dubai International Academic City, Amity offers undergraduate courses in a number of disciplines including solar and alternate energy, civil engineering, nuclear science and technology and nanotechnology.

“We have filed over 150 student patents in the last few months and currently have 250 ongoing research projects, including a number in the environmental and sustainable energy fields,” added Bava.

“This being our first year of operations we have selected recruited a total of 85 students on our various courses of which 53 are girls students and 32 are boys. Amity University intends to have two intakes a year, in February and September,” said Bava.

The scholarship programme is open to prospective candidates including Emiratis, female students, meritorious students, and mean’s tested applications.

“Through our diverse programme of science and engineering courses we hope to address the disparity between business and science degrees, as only one per cent of the emirates’ students currently opt to follow an undergraduate career in the field of science,” said Bava.

“As testimony to the university’s unmatched focus on research, Amity’s 3,500 strong faculty is credited with filing the maximum number of patents by any university in India in the last one year,” said Bava.
