Sharjah International Book Fair 2011 Completes Preparations For The Opening Ceremony |

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah International Book Fair 2011 is now completely prepared for its 30th year. The organizers of Sharjah International Book Fair 2011 have a lot of featured events for the audience as it marks the 30th anniversary of its inception. It has an expanded program of seminars and panel discussions to launch the translation grant fund which is 300 thousand USD to support the field of translation, networking and educational programs. Furthermore stands will be specialized to display cookbooks due to the large turnout witnessed during last year’s fair, as well as the participation of 750 publishers representing more than 40 countries. The fair offers distinctive and new ideas through a huge variety of activities, seminars, discussions, panel discussions awaiting the visitors in Sharjah International Book Fair 2011. It mainly aims at giving the visitors a rich cultural and intellectual experience, as well as a valuable collection of books and publications. Sharjah International Book Fair 2011 also gives visitors the opportunity to meet directly with selected groups of novelists, authors and publishers, known to the Arab and non Arab world. With preparations that took a whole year, Sharjah international book Fair 2011 provides programs, seminars, symposiums and featured talk shows, including Author talk programs which presents selected group of authors, writers, world leading topics of interest to the reader today, where they are given in the form of talk shows. During the symposiums which will be held across a period of three days, 17 Arabic and foreign authors and writers are going to be participating through two seminars per day. Sharjah International Book Fair 2011 includes the cooking program which provides well-known cuisines, representing Eastern and Western cuisines, as well as the most important cookery books in the world. 12 chefs representing 11 global cuisines will be present and will take turns in preparing many recipes during 8 days; moreover the show will serve as an interactive platform for children, which provides more than 200 activities throughout the day. Sharjah international Book Fair 2011 will also feature this year the reading club to be aired live, additionally, there will be a program called ’’In the presence of the book’’ which was launched in cooperation with Sharjah Media Corporation which will continue in Sharjah International Book fair 2011 through the presentation of many books. Ahmed Bin Rakhad Al Amri, Director of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2011 said: ’’Every year we aim to make Sharjah International Book Faira special event not on a local level but at a regional and global level. This year on the occasion of the 30th anniversary, we have prepared a wide range of activities, seminars, Talk shows and Intellectual programs that will provide the reader with a wealth of information and make him in touch with developments in the intellectual and cultural world. We at Sharjah International Book Fair, empowered by the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, aim at providing the best and raising awareness of Sharjah in particular and the U.A.E in general in the cultural and intellectual global arena”. Sharjah international book fair will start from November 16th until November 26th, 2011 at Expo Center Sharjah. |
