More Than 100 Thousand Visitors To Sharjah International Book Fair 2011 In The First Three Days


The exhibition management extended an additional hour of the exhibition time at the request of exhibitors










Since the opening day, and in its thirtieth edition, Sharjah World Book Fair 2011 witnessed great attendance, as a huge audience attended the exhibition and its diverse events, especially Friday, which observed the presence of more than 60 thousand visitors.

Yesterday was distinguished with a unique family attendance, especially for the children’s book Hall, added to cooking, cafes & cultural programs, where the same outstanding turnout was on signing books occasions, which had an unusual crowd around especially on authors such as Robert Lacey and known media icon Turki Al-Dakhil and UAE writer Aisha Al-Kaabi and others.

The presence of the great writers, intellectuals and interested audience, resulted in a special request from the publishers to extend the exhibition an additional hour, where the exhibition opens until 11pm instead of 10 pm. It is noteworthy that the Sharjah International Book Fair opens its doors to the public at 10 am until 10 pm daily.

The General Director of Sharjah International Book Fair 2011, Ahmed bin Rakkad Amiri said "What we saw yesterday from the intense presence and interaction of audience with the exhibition events is a great evidence that the harvest of years planted by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, over thirty years has paid off.

Based on His Highness orientation for the SIBF thirtieth session, we worked on providing all support and necessary facilities for exhibitors, participants and the public so the exhibition can be this year’s most successful and admired event. At the request of the publishers and the large audience on Friday, we extended exhibition time until 11 pm, which indicates the increasing popularity of the exhibition and growing sales volume on the books of various kinds within the show. "

It is noteworthy that the activities of the Sharjah International Book Fair run from November 16 until November 26, 2011 at Expo Centre Sharjah.
