Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) has announced that it received around 1000 visitors at the 14th National Career Exhibition, which began on Wednesday, 20 February, at Expo Centre Sharjah. The Department is participating for the fifth consecutive time in the three-day event as part of its efforts to attract and continuously develop the skills of UAE national cadres.

In her remarks on the sidelines of the exhibition, Maitha Al Hammadi, Manager of Human Resources at the Sharjah Museums Department, said: "The Department always seeks to develop the performance and skills of Emirati employees in Sharjah museums through training and participation in local exhibitions so as to enhance the status of museums on the world map."

"We are committed to participation in the National Career Exhibition annually to attract the qualified Emiratis and continuously develop the skills of our staff, thus capitalizing on the opportunities offered by these events which represent an ideal platform for the department to meet with researchers in the museum work and remain in contact with them to select the qualified cadres for working in cultural, historical, heritage and art fields covered by Sharjah’s museums," Maitha said.

She underlined the significant role the Department plays in identifying the emirate’s rich culture and heritage as well as the traditions of its people, as the museums act as the emirate’s ambassadors in all over the world in line with its commitment to promoting Sharjah’s cultural and historical assets and providing the best services to customers.

The number of Emiratis working in the Sharjah Museum Department and its 17 affiliated museums has exceeded 70 percent. In keeping with its Emiratization policy, the department always strives to conduct training programmes under the supervision of specialists in the museum field from Sharjah and abroad to train Emiratis and qualify them to enter the job market.

Developing national human resources is one of the main policies adopted by the Department in line with the vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to focus on training national human resources and giving them the chance to participate in the cultural renaissance in the emirate.

The Sharjah Museums Department’s Human Resources revealed that 300 Emiratis were trained in the department and its affiliated museums in 2011.

Mrs.Al Hammadi expressed her satisfaction for participation in the career exhibition which offers career opportunities to Emirati graduates and give them a chance to gain practical experience.
