Bee’ah Wins Middle East’s Best Waste Management Company Of The Year Award Second Year In A Row

Bee’ah, the UAE’s leading and award-winning integrated environment and waste management company, has won the award for Best Waste Management Company of the Year in the Middle East for the second time, at the prestigious facilities management Middle East award ceremony. This award comes as the second major award that Bee’ah receives this year, setting Bee’ah at the forefront of leading environmental change both socially and commercially. Earlier this week, Bee’ah received the Frost & Sullivan Middle East Environment Excellence Awards for the Best Waste Management Company of the Year.

The annual facilities management Middle East Awards recognize and reward those individuals and companies that have made a significant contribution to the development of the region’s FM industry.

Bee’ah was recognised for its innovative contributions to waste management within the regional facilities management industry. His Excellency Salim Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Bee’ah commented: “Bee’ah was created in accordance with the wishes of the ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, to address the pressing issues about our environment. It is indeed a great pleasure to stand here in recognition of our accomplishments and we hope to continue this progress towards our ambitious goal of zero-waste to landfill by 2015 for the Emirate of Sharjah.”

Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, Chief Executive Officer of Bee’ah accepted the award and said: “Bee’ah is very honoured to receive this prestigious award in the category of Best Waste Management Company of the Year, and we are proud of our great team and staff who all have invested their expertise and hard work to making this achievement possible.”

In addition, Bee’ah was highly commended for the Sustainability Initiative of the Year award and was shortlisted for the Green Facilities Management Company of the Year and the Education & Development Initiative of the Year award for the Bee’ah School of Environment, Bee’ah an innovative education initiative, with the support of the Sharjah Education Zone (SEZ) and the Ministry of Environment and Water, as a curriculum integrated programme that aims to educate students about environmental topics and challenges.

The Bee’ah Waste Management Centre (WMC) in Al Saj’ah, Sharjah is home to some of the world’s finest and largest waste recovery facilities and is run by a team of international experts and houses the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) – considered the third largest in the world and largest in the Middle East, the Construction and Demolition Waste Recycling Facility (CDW), the Tyre Recycling Facility, the compost plant, the oil lagoons and industrial waste water evaporation ponds, as well as the Landfill – which is one of the largest in the world.

Bee’ah also launched Tandeef – the company’s street cleaning and city beautification arm – to deliver a comprehensive, cost effective, environmentally sound and technically reliable solid waste collection and city beautification system for the Emirate’s residents. Earlier this year Bee’ah rolled-out the Middle East’s first residential recycling programme on a large-scale outreach in Sharjah, enabling residents to separate and recycle their waste at home.

Bee’ah is fully committed to investing in innovative technology and ensuring that its expertise is utilized within the waste management industry. Therefore, Bee’ah’s long-term strategy for growth would position the company as the leader of environmental change not only in Sharjah, but beyond the emirate’s borders as well. Thus, Bee’ah is also looking at expansion plans to other regions of the U.A.E. in the near future, and is potentially looking at its growth towards emerging markets in the long term.
