Sharjah Ruler Provides AED 1 Million To Support Local Artists











H. H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah has ordered to acquire selected group of local art works worth AED 1 million, showcased in the 30th Annual Exhibition, out of his keenness to support local artists and the art culture in the state.

The exhibition was organized by the Emirates Fine Arts Society early this year.

In a statement on this occasion, Hisham Al Mazloum, Director of the Arts Directorate at the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information highlighted the support of H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah for the local as well as Arab and foreign nationalities artists.

He said that the Ruler of Sharjah since founding the Emirates Fine Art Society in 1980s was keen to provide all material and moral support for the society in recognition of the role of art in promoting social awareness.

Established in 1980, this non-profit making association is a member of the Arab Art Association and the International Art Association (Arab) in Paris. The Head Office of the society is in Sharjah with branches in Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Khor Fakkan.

The Emirates Fine Arts Society helps promote art education and art appreciation among the public, in particular to national artists and conducts art workshops, seminars and lectures, in painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphics, photography and calligraphy. The society also encourages artists to get together, assists with exhibitions, and produces publications and periodicals on fine arts.
