Etisalat today announced that it is providing a state-of- the-art ICT (Information & Communication Technologies) infrastructure for the first ever FIFA Club World Cup which is currently being hosted in the UAE from December 9-19, 2009. Etisalat competed with several global ICT vendors and was ultimately selected to provide an end- to-end ICT infrastructure which will be used to broadcast all the live action on the pitch to more than 100 million fans across six continents. Reliability of the network is the highest priority throughout the tournament and Etisalat got the vote of confidence from the Local Organizing Committee(LOC) for their capability and state-of -the- art ICT infrastructure to support the entire connectivity requirements for an event of this magnitude. As part of this project, Etisalat is supplying and interconnecting telephony, Internet and data to 16 sites in Zayed Sports City, the newly refurbished Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium and Emirates Palace Hotel in order to serve the accreditation, media and FIFA offices on location. The total bandwidth which will be required is over 400 Mbps with 100% redundancy. Using its Managed Router services, Etisalat will be monitoring and managing the entire network connectivity between both venues. According to Abdulla Hashim, Sr. VP, Business Solutions, Etisalat, “ Etisalat’s selection as an ICT provider for this prestigious event is a clear reflection of our expertise, end-to-end solutions portfolio and our state–of-the-art infrastructure which were essential in convincing the organising committee to repose their confidence in Etisalat. We look forward to working with FIFA and the Local Organising Committee to deliver a successful tournament for football fans in the region and around the world.” |
