Bawadi Mall’s "Around The World In 60 Days" Event Attracts 1,700,000 Visitors


Increase of 90 percent over last year’s edition shows robustness of retail and shopping industry in Al Ain










Around the World in 60 Days, the summer event conducted at Bawadi Mall concluded on Friday (6th August, 2010), having attracted 1,700,000 visitors, an increase of 90 percent compared with last year’s edition.

This entertainment programme demonstrated the robustness of the retail and shopping industry in Al Ain in general and Bawadi Mall in particular. Khalid Shraim, Marketing Manager, Bawadi Mall said: “Around the World in 60 Days was very successful from the footfall point of view. Nine international troupes from UAE, Palestine, Syria, Greece, Spain, Brazil, Korea, Caucasus and Native American area participated in the daily shows.”

These shows were designed to entertain visitors from Al Ain and Abu Dhabi and all over the UAE as well as neighborhood countries like Oman. It has helped raise the ranking of Al Ain as a shopping destination in the region.

Shraim added: “This show has positively affected the retail and shopping industry in Al Ain where a lot of visitors were coming from outside the city. Family tourism has thus flourished thanks to the series of performances by the nine troupes.”

Bawadi Mall offered integrated shopping and entertainment programmes to cater to the needs of its customers throughout the 60 days. Every troupe reflected a specific country demonstrating its culture and customs through dances.

The UAE performances in the beginning of the activities truly mirrored the old way of living in the UAE and reflected strong ties that exist between the performers who get into the songs in a way that shows their admiration to their legacy.

A troupe from Caucasus area entertained the audiences. This band which is famous for its cultural differences performed many of the Georgian folk dances.

In an atmosphere reminiscent of noble European traditions, the Greek troupe presented its dances with pride, passion and dignity, being the oldest European civilization.

Bawadi Mall brought the native Americans in person to provide a first-hand view of their traditions of dancing and celebrations. With drums and cheers, the troupe performed dances that represent the history and customs that they are still clinging to it, despite the passage of thousands of years.

Samba dances was a point of attraction for the people while the Korean troop impressed the audience by depicting the Asian culture dating back to thousands of years.

With a charming and an attractive bright atmosphere, and in the presence of a large audience of various nationalities and ages, Julnar performed a spectacular show which delighted the crowd.

The popular Palestinian folkloric dance was presented in a variety of traditional exhibits that included the popular Dabkeh from Nablos, Ramalla and other Palestinian cities such as Gaza and Haifa.

The Spanish band performed their show in the folk traditional ceremony in Bawadi Mall. Ten dancers performed various kinds of dancing; however the most important one was the Flamenco dance.

Tenants at the mall has expressed their satisfaction from the show that the Bawadi Mall management said will continue to organize in the coming summers as part of a variety of other activities through out the year.

Lots of tenants participated at the show through providing customers with tempting promotions.
