Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that embracing humanitarian, cultural and cognitive causes by UAE top institutions does give such issues spirt, meaning and value.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed made the remarks on Thursday during a ceremony organised by Nakheel Properties to announce its complete sponsorship of the Mohammad bin Rashid Arabic e-learning Project throughout all stages, which will be among its first outputs the "Translation Challenge", which aims to translate more than 5,000 educational videos and 11 million words within one year.
"Nakheel Properties is a leading national company and the end goal of the national, humanitarian and social responsibility is to bring about a new change in societies. The agreement signed with Nakheel lays solid foundations for partnerships between leading national institutions and major national initiatives," said Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future and Secretary-General of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, MBRGI.
He added that Nakheel’s endeavours to make a real difference in the lives of 50 million students is the highest and noblest value, which reflects the company’s culture, philosophy and leadership awareness.
Ali Rashid Lootah, Nakheel's Chairman, said, "We strongly believe in Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision to disseminate knowledge in the Arab world and we adopt, sponsor and commit to this noble value and civilised issue. Sheikh Mohammed holds a real civilised vision to the region and all institutions have to play their role and unify for the sake of this vision and establishing prestigious position of the UAE worldwide."
Lootah added, "Nakheel does believe in long-life learning and the project has moved us and stimulated a development need in the region. We have assumed great responsibility to contribute to various sectors and support all segments of the community. We will work to achieve the objective of the Mohammad Bin Rashid E-learning Project, which has been developed based on education reality in the Arab world."
He added that the sponsorship of Nakheel for this project is a first step followed by subsequent steps, within our belief in the importance of this project and its role in motivating Arab students to study various science materials and mathematics, which constitute a scientific base for all scientific disciplines.
Lootah also praised the MBRGI's initiatives, aimed at supporting science and knowledge dissemination, creating strong Arab education that competes with developed countries, and placing Arabs on the global map of knowledge and science.
