Saeed Al Tayer Receives A Delegation From The Executive Office Of The Government Of Dubai

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) emphasised DEWA’s commitment to supporting and developing the capabilities of Emirati citizens as part of its strategy to prepare young Emiratis to lead the energy and water sectors. Al Tayer made these remarks when he received a delegation from the Executive Office of the Government of Dubai. The delegation included Abdulla Bin Touq, Director General; Abdulla Al Remaithi, Director of Strategy Department, and Sarah Adel Shaw, Senior Projects Manager. The meeting was attended by Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.

The meeting discussed the Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development’s strategy in preparing a generation of leaders who are capable of coping with the rapid international changes, and DEWA’s current and future needs in leadership, to achieve its set objectives.

During the meeting, Al Tayer reviewed DEWA’s strategy in preparing qualified cadre in its various areas of work, which directly contributes to the comprehensive development of Dubai. He highlighted the important role of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development in enhancing the capabilities of young Emiratis and preparing them to take leading positions in Dubai and the UAE. Al Tayer noted that DEWA enhances the capabilities of Emiratis through internal and external programmes in cooperation with leading national universities and institutions.

"At DEWA, we work in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to prepare a generation capable of taking the lead in various fields. We believe that Emirati youth have the required capabilities to enable DEWA to realise its vision and ambitious plans, and contribute to transforming Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world. We always seek to discover and attract creative and talented people to DEWA, and work to enhance the capabilities and expertise of young Emiratis and support them to be innovative and excel to contribute to realizing DEWA’s vision and ambitious plans," said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer reviewed DEWA’s key programmes, projects and initiatives to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to promote sustainability and a green economy in Dubai, and establish an infrastructure for electricity and water services in Dubai, as per the best international standards and practices. Al Tayer discussed DEWA’s efforts to develop renewable and alternative energy, rationalise the use of natural resources, and find alternative solutions to conventional energy, to achieve the sustainable development of Dubai. He noted that the Innovation Centre and the Research and Development (R&D) centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, will contribute to enhancing national capabilities in the energy sector and promote business competitiveness in the UAE. The solar park is the largest single-site solar power project in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. It has a total investment of AED 50 billion, and will produce 1,000 MW by 2020 and 5,000 MW by 2030. Upon completion, the solar park will reduce over 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, supporting Dubai’s objectives for sustainable development and a green economy.
