Dubai Customs honors winners of IPR Awards at CIFF 2017

“Piracy Full Stop” won the best international movie in the latest version of the Children's International Film Festival (CIFF) 2017 which concluded recently at the Higher Technology College in the academic city. 

Yousef Ozair Mubarak, Director of IPR Department at Dubai Customs, awarded the winners in the presence of Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs. Winchester School’s “Ctrl +c NOT v” and Pristine School’s “One for all” won the best local movies award. American School of Creative Science in Sharjah received the best animation award for its “FAKE” animation movie, and Emirates university came second with their MYAR animation. 

Commenting at the award ceremony Ahmed Mahboob said:” We congratulate Dubai Customs’ award winners in the Children's International Film Festival (CIFF). We are happy to have sponsored this festival which is a great activity to encourage children to innovate and think out of the box. We are following the directives of our wise leadership of nurturing and supporting innovation, especially the younger generations who will lead the future”.

Yousef Ozair Mubarak, Director of IPR Department said:” We raise awareness on the protection of intellectual property rights amongst society members of all sectors and age categories. Movies is one of the ways to reach out to a greater number of people. This is why Dubai Customs chooses IPR to be the focal point and the main theme of the awards this year. 

The IPR Department has also launched an annual Dubai Customs IPR Award since 2007 that raises awareness around the perils of counterfeiting. The Award has helped engage school and college students in the mission of protecting society from fake products.
