Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received the President of Argentina Mauricio Macri at Za’abeel Palace in Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed President Macri and his accompanying delegation. His Highness highlighted the importance of official visits in opening new channels of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, President Macri pointed out that the historic visit of Sheikh Mohammed to Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires back in 2013 laid the foundation of successful tourist, trade, and investment partnerships between the UAE and Argentina. Macri also noted the importance of the visit by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in supporting such successful bilateral relations.
President Macri confirmed Argentina’s participation in Dubai’s Expo 2020. He also expressed hope that Emirates airlines starts a direct flight to Buenos Aires; a step that would boost cultural exchange, trade, and tourism between the two countries. President Macri praised UAE’s advanced infrastructure and Dubai’s in particular.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Emirates Group; His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation; Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs; Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shebani, Director of Dubai Ruler's Court; and Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality.
The official Argentine delegation accompanying President Macri and Argentina’s ambassador to the UAE, Fernando Ramon Martinis also attended the meeting.
