Dubai Electronic Security Center signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Herriot-Watt University |

Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Herriot-Watt University Dubai Campus in the framework of its concern in accelerating research and development within information security to protect the information, telecommunications and government information systems. The MoU, which was signed by H.E Yousef Hamad Al Shaibani, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electronic Security Center, and Professor Ammar Kaka, Vice-Principal of Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus, in the presence of a number of delegates from both organizationsaims, aims at building national capabilities in information security field. .The MoU also focuses on the exchange of knowledge and experience in electronic security field through participation in workshops, conferences, seminars and training courses. Moreover, both parties will cooperate in all possible means to support the initiatives and programs proposed and agreed upon by them. As well as, the MoU encourages raising awareness about cyber security and provides new opportunities for training and research to develop cyber security solutions, internet protection and digital criminal science as appropriate for security projects in the country, in addition to, exploring how to become universal through cooperation with international institutions in the field of cyber security. In this regard, H.E. Al Shaibani stated that “building such relations with the universities will improve the cyber security research and development areas in UAE”. He stressed that the Center is keen to develop internal capabilities within the country that will meet the demands of electronic security field in line with the emirate strategy. Moreover, Professor Ammar Kaka noted that “Academic institutions play a vital role in supporting all sectors and we are proud to work with Dubai Electronic Security Center. Information and telecommunications security is of critical importance to the growth of the private and public sectors in the UAE, and businesses will benefit from our cooperation thanks to our research and information exchange with Dubai Electronic Security Center.” |
