OPCDE_ Cyber Security Conference was launched today (26th of April, 2017), organized by Comea Technologies and Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) as strategic partners. This partnership aims to enhance collaboration and innovation in the field of cyber security. The conference is the first of its kind in the region and will continue for two days at the futuristic Dubai Future Accelerators Space, in Emirates Towers-Dubai.
During the conference, Amer Sharaf, Director of Compliance Support and Alliances of DESC, delivered the opening speech, in which he welcomed the audience and emphasized on the importance of this conference. Sharaf briefed them on the main objectives of the Center, which is to protect all governmental and semi-governmental information, telecommunications network and government information systems in Dubai. As well as enhancing and implementing the necessary methods in the realm of cyber security and raising efficiency of information storage and exchange. He also thanked the organizing committee, speakers, and attendees.
The conference featured more than 20 speakers from leading international companies such as Intel, Fastly, Comae, ISC2, FIRST, Mandiant/FirEye, Veracode, Trend Micro and Root9b. Discussions and presentations at the conference will discuss the latest developments, research and challenges in the e-security sector, and researchers, academics and security professionals will exchange ideas and experiences in this field.
OPCDE_ focuses heavily on technical content and is therefore keen on the absence of commercial talks. Each presentation was reviewed by researchers in the field of cyber security from international companies such as “Google” and “Uber”.
UAE students had the opportunity to participate in a round table discussion with cyber security experts in a closed session for two hours during the first day of the conference. A total of 10 university student teams from different universities in the UAE were selected to present their technical capabilities in the "UAE National Cyber Security Capture The Flag!". Winners will receive cash prizes of up to $ 7,000.
