DEWA receives delegation from DACUM Training & Leadership Academy in Kuwait

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a delegation from DACUM Training and Leadership Academy in Kuwait. The visit was to learn about the experiences and effect of the Dubai Government Excellence Program in achieving government excellence and the Dubai Plan 2021.

The General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai has nominated DEWA to transform its experiences to the visiting delegation as it won the Distinguished Government Entity award in the Dubai Government Excellence Program 2016.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, welcomed the DACUM delegation. He emphasised DEWA’s commitment to exchanging experiences and best practices with all organisations and entities in the region, and around the world.

“DEWA has become an international role model for adhering to the highest standards of excellence and quality. In support of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote excellence, creativity and quality and DEWA’s strategy to enhance government excellence, based on international standards, DEWA has adopted innovation as a major pillar and as a government value. We work to improve government services and performance, encouraging a culture of innovation, and spreading it as a standard procedure, to develop government services, overcome challenges, and contribute to improving administrative government work,” said Al Tayer.

“Through our plans and development projects in renewable energy, we strive to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by 2021, and to strengthen the UAE’s global competitiveness with a focus on renewable energy, and green economy products and techniques. DEWA aims to achieve sustainability, raise awareness among the community, promote the rational consumption, and instill a culture of conservation in society,” added Al Tayer.

“To achieve our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, in adherence with our DEWA Strategy 2021 and the Dubai Plan 2021, we strive to achieve excellence by providing an environment capable of inspiring and encouraging ongoing development across all operations in adherence with the best international practices, skills, and experiences.

This will enable us to improve our operations and simplify our procedures, achieve the happiness of all citizens and residents, and provide services at the highest levels of availability, efficiency, and reliability,” concluded Al Tayer.

The delegation from DACUM commended the effort of Dubai and DEWA to become a regional and international role model for excellence and achieving the welfare and happiness of citizens, residents, and visitors.

DEWA won 6 awards in the Dubai Government Excellence Program 2016. Three of them were in the Excellence categories. DEWA won the Distinguished Government Entity, Financially Distinguished Performance, Distinguished Entity in Government Communications, Creative Idea Award, Distinguished Employee Award for technical and engineering for Career Excellence, and the Unknown Soldier Award.

Since the launch of the Dubai Government Excellence Program, DEWA has received a third of the Distinguished Government Entity awards, winning three out of nine times. The first time was in 2000 for its 1999 performance, the second in 2008 for the period from 2006 to 2007 and the third in 2016 for 2013 to 2015. DEWA was considered a strong contender in the sessions it did not win in.
