Dubai Customs counts down to first Customs Week to coincide with International Customs Day

The program of events for the DC Customs Week includes various lectures, workshops and awareness sessions for customers and the public across different locations. The aim is to bring all stakeholders and the community closer to the Customs work and the vital role it plays in keeping the society safe and supporting legitimate trade and economic development.

“Through this creative Customs Week, we wanted to share with the world the celebration of the International Customs Day by rolling out a host of activities that help us open up to our clients and the public, thereby further increasing their awareness of Customs’ efforts towards community protection as well as sustainable economic and societal development,” Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, said.

The inaugural Dubai Customs Week targets building public consciousness of the services and facilitations Dubai Customs is offering to streamline the movement of passengers, goods and consignments across Dubai borders, he added.

“We strive to make the first edition of Dubai Customs Week a resounding success, by involving all stakeholders; active business and trade communities, foreign business councils, employees and the community including school students and the youth. Workshops and exhibitions tackling among others vibrant topics such as IPR and the adverse effects of drugs and misuse of restricted medications will take place at Dubai Customs headquarters, air, sea and inland centres around Dubai, major shopping malls, fishing harbours at Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim, as well as schools and universities,” said Mr. Musabih.

Special awareness lectures will be held for fishermen to shed light on safety measures they should take to ensure their safety around fishing gear.

During Dubai Customs Week, people will be introduced to the latest offerings by DC in 2015, which are aimed at cutting short and easing Customs procedures for traders and customers. These include the Virtual Freight and Logistics Corridor, the Authorized Economic Operator and a lots more.

Cultural activities will be tailored specifically to passengers at airports, in addition to information kiosks and exhibitions.
