Mohammed bin Rashid: UAE has successfully innovated government leadership models

Sheikh Mohammed’s remarks came while addressing the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the UAE Government Leaders Programme (UAEGLP) and the Government Capacity Building Programme. The ceremony celebrated 136 graduates from different disciplines. The ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace, Abu Dhabi in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and a number of ministers, sheikhs and senior officials.

Sheikh Mohammed said: “The achievements being made frequently in the UAE represent the fruit of the efforts of our excellent national cadres led by my brother, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The government has excelled in preparing efficient Emirati cadres who work as one team to lead government work based on an ambitious and far-reaching vision for the future that we want for our people and our country.”

Expressing pride in the role of Emirati youth, he said the graduates are a new addition to the progressive and innovation-driven government work.
Addressing the graduates, His Highness said: “We want you to be ambassadors for the institutional values as leadership is not merely a job. It is rather a responsibility and commitment to the interests of the state and a continued hard work towards achieving our national goals. Real leaders do not sit back in their offices waiting for reports. They should be on the field alongside their team members to encourage them, follow the tiniest details, communicate with customers to learn about their needs and innovate services that exceed their expectations. They should also be greatly interested in turning their knowledge into results that are tangible for their customers and countering challenges with a firm resolve.”

Sheikh Mohammed concluded: “We look forward with interest to your roles. You have a great challenge ahead. You are responsible for your families and the country that expects a lot from you. We have great confidence in you and need you to add excellent and positive contributions to the government work and positively contribute in shaping the future of the nation.”

The UAE government leadership programme was established in 2008 by a decree from Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to achieve the vision of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) leadership in enabling government employees across the UAE. Since its inception, UAEGLP has enabled its participants to become leaders by providing them with world-class tools and knowledge to enrich both their personal and professional experiences.
