Dubai Supreme Council Of Energy Discusses Progress Of Demand Side Management Strategy 2030 |

The meeting discussed a number of topics, including progress in the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2030 programmesHE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, has chaired the Supreme Council’s 56th meeting, with HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Energy and other board members including HE Dawood Al Hajiri, Director General of Dubai Municipality; HE Saif Humaid Al Falasi, CEO of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC); Waleed Salman, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Nuclear Energy Committee; Nasser Abu Shehab, CEO of the Strategy & Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA); and Frederick Chemin, General Manager of Dubai Petroleum. The meeting discussed a number of topics, including progress in the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2030 programmes. The strategy aims to reduce electricity and water demand by 30% by 2030. The meeting also discussed the progress of the central district cooling plans, and the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030. The meeting also reviewed work of the Dubai Regulatory Committee for Petroleum Products Trading, which was formed under directives from the Executive Council of Dubai and is overseen by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The Committee issues guidelines for regulating the petroleum trade sector. “To support the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the transformation towards a sustainable green economy, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy works to achieve the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to produce 75% of Dubai's total power output from clean energy sources and to make Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world by 2050,” said Al Tayer. “The Council launched the Demand Side Management Strategy to reduce demand for electricity and water by 30% by 2030. We are working to consolidate the position of Dubai as a global role model for a city of the future and enhance quality of life as well as the welfare and happiness of its citizens and residents,” added Al Tayer. “We reviewed the progress of the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 to increase the number of hybrid and electric vehicles in the market. Dubai was a pioneer in this and has implemented this strategy in government departments in the Emirate to promote the sustainability of the UAE,” added Al Tayer. “The meeting discussed the work of the Dubai Regulatory Committee for Petroleum Products Trading. Producing and trading petroleum products is one of the key operations in Dubai. It had tangible contributions in the Emirate’s GDP," said Al Muhairbi. |
