"Corporate Procurement Platform 509" Is A Joint Initiative Between Dubai Islamic And ASWAQ

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD)  launched the “Corporate Procurement Platform 509” in collaboration with ASWAAQ in the presence of Executive Director of the Charity Sector Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi and CEO of ASWAAQ, Yousuf Sharaf. This initiative is the first of its kind in the region, as it transforms government procurement with donations in the philanthropic sector, which will be spent on sustainable development processes during the launch of knowledge initiatives at the Knowledge Summit 2019, under the title “Knowledge for Sustainable Development.”

Al Muhairi stated: ““The Corporate Procurement Platform 509” is based on Article 9 of fifty-year-charter launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai earlier this year. This platform supports the Department's philanthropic strategy, which aims to lead innovative and pioneering philanthropy, and to build a sustainable and competitive global leadership through the creation of an integrated charity system to empower the broader stakeholders.”

Al Muhairi added that the launch of the initiative in the Knowledge Summit is a vital step that supports the sixth edition of the Summit, which aims to achieve sustainable development and meet global challenges. It emphasizes the role of government entities in creating meaningful initiatives in the community, which achieve the concept of sustainability for the Summit's diverse audience.

“The Corporate Procurement Platform 509” aims to find new ways for companies to contribute to philanthropy, and to increase the number of donations to charity which will help IACAD increase and improve the quality of charitable projects that it creates. It will also provide help to the community, and provide supplies to government departments and companies with high-quality service. The platform was developed by ASWAAQ to keep pace with government accelerators, which currently include 6000 products that can be selected by the organizations registered according to their institutional needs

The platform supports humanitarian action, through the institutional procurement centralization of all government departments and affiliates. The net profits are allocated annually to charitable work by transferring the amount to the Department for the development of humanitarian work in order to determine in turn the bodies eligible for support and advertising.

IACAD supervised the signing of the joint initiative agreements with governmental and semi-governmental bodies, especially for each of the representatives of the participating parties to the agreements. Shaikha Al Mansouri, Assistant Director General Dubai Foundation for Women and Children; Dr. Mohamed Al Awadhi, Chief Operating Officer at Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital; Saleh Abdulla Al Marzooqi, Director of the Dubai Sports Council’s Corporate Support Department; Aisha Beljafla - Vice Chairman of Ro’yati; Mark Wolmarans, General Manager of ASWAAQ.
