The TRA Participates In The12th Meeting Of The Arab ICT Ministerial Council & The 24th Meeting Of The Council’s Executive Bureau

The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is participating in the 12th Meeting of the Arab ICT Ministerial Council and the 24th Meeting of the Council’s Executive Bureau, with a senior delegation headed by H.E. Mohamed Al Ghanim, TRA Board Member and Director General. The meetings took place in Amman, Jordon, on 3 – 5 June 2008. In this respect, H.E. Mohamed Al Ghanim stated: “The meeting will witness discussions on a number of mutual issues among the Arab states, especially the activation of the Arab ICT General Strategy to build an IT society aiming at creating a competitive market for the Arab IT society through achieving an overall penetration, through working on enhancing the quality of services by using the ICT, and through developing this technology’s industry. The meeting will also discuss the best means to utilize the technological resources, develop the Arab content programs on the Internet, and contribute in bridging the digital gap with the big industrial countries.” The Arab ICT Ministerial Council, however, coordinates the efforts of the member states and unifies them to achieve close cooperation among the Arab states in establishing, developing and enhancing the ICT services. As well as to place an Arab strategy to develop the telecom sector in order to facilitate communications among the Arab states and between them and the international community; to develop the ICT society and insure the Arab states’ interests in related international organizations through mutual coordination, through combining the efforts and standpoints and through providing consultations and recommendations; and enhancing the Arab ICT society and develop this field’s technical means and scientific research.
