Sharjah Museums Department To Host Artist Khalil Abdulwahid On January 9

Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) is hosting artist Khalil Abdulwahid on January 9 at the Botanical Garden of the Sharjah Natural History and Botanical Museum. He will sketch the beauty of the natural elements in the Museum’s garden, which consists of several ecosystems and their flora, including wet wadi and mountain plants.

The workshop, which is free for the adult public, will be held from 11am to 1pm and will be preceded by a tour of the Botanical Garden. The workshop is organized by the Interpretation and Education Department of SMD to strengthen all aspects of the region’s culture through community events.

Khalil Abdulwahid is the Chairman of the Emirate Fine Art Society and the Manager of Visual Arts at Dubai Culture. He is a graduate in Science from the Pennsylvania State University and studied computer aided drafting and design as well as heating technology at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. He has participated in many national and international workshops and art galleries.

Sharjah Museums Department provides a range of educational programmes for adults across its 17 museums. These include tours, gallery talks and workshops, which are held every Saturday in different museums. Gallery talks and workshops offer an excellent opportunity to learn about and discover new insights into SMD’s extensive collections and to discuss ideas and concerns with museum professionals.

The Sharjah Museums Department, established in 2006 by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, aims to promote the emirate’s rich legacy of arts, heritage and culture.
