Sharjah Mum & Dad Have ‘Marvel-Lous’ Time When Daughter Is On Leave

Breakfast With Heroes Winner ‘Just Loves’ New Abu Dhabi

It was a case of the parents will play when the child’s away when personal assistant Alina Hotomega of Sharjah won an Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) competition to breakfast with Marvel superheroes Spiderman and Ironman.

Alina, who’s originally from Romania and had lived in the UAE for eight years, scooped the prize, which included a night’s stay in the trendy Aloft Abu Dhabi Hotel and tickets to New York’s famed Big Apple Circus, just after her four-year-old daughter had left to spend leave with her grandparents. The competition was part of the promotion campaign for the Summer in Abu Dhabi family festival which continues at ADNEC until Tuesday night.

“Instead I took my husband Jateen and his friend and we had a great time although my daughter said she was jealous,” said Alina. “It was fantastic really. We enjoyed everything: the hotel, the Big Apple Circus which was great fun and superb entertainment, all the Summer in Abu Dhabi activities, breakfast with Spiderman and Ironman and everything in between! We’re still talking about what fun we had.”

Alina, whose husband travels to the capital regularly on business but has only visited a few times herself, said she was thrilled by the scope of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and the Aloft Hotel.

“We just loved the Aloft Hotel; they were such gracious hosts and treated us royally. So hopefully it won’t be too long before we have a chance to visit Abu Dhabi and the Aloft Hotel again.”

The Big Apple Circus runs at ADNEC’s Abu Dhabi Hall until Tuesday night with tickets available at the door. For every ticket bought, a second is given free.
